The CFA has always been a wonderful supporter of young flute students. Participating in the competition is a great way to get involved in the CFA while having the opportunity to perform your music for a judge. The judge’s will listen to your music, choose winners and write adjudication sheets. The winners will win trophies and have the special honor of performing their solo, either the required or choice piece, at The CFA Flute Fair in March. Here are some notes for you to think about:
  • The registration deadline is January 14, 2012.
  • Ensure that your choice piece is no more than five minutes long.
  • Bring original music, with measures numbered, of your choice piece for the judge. Make sure your name and phone number are on the music.
  • Arrange for your own accompanist to perform with you at the competition.
  • Plan extra time to locate Colorado Academy’s Schotter’s Music Center. It can be a bit tricky to find.
  • Dress up! Look good!!
  • Introduce yourself to the judge and announce the choice piece you will perform.
  • Perform your music with repeats only if your music has a D.C. al Fine.
  • Enjoy performing your piece in the choir room for a small audience!
